Press Events

How to Maximize Press Event Success

At each of our beautypress events we host up to 12 cosmetic brands and see more than 120 beauty editors, freelancers or social media editors (bloggers or vloggers). We offer a platform to communicate and connect with editors online and in person supporting you in implementing your successful public relations strategy. Here are some tips for post event press care, how to pitch to the editors and encourage them to write about your brand and products.

Name one person in your PR team to be the manager of the after event communication and correspondence.

Online media and bloggers/vloggers, known as short-lead media, are the ones that can publish spontaneously and in some hours or some days notice. Be prepared to screen the Internet with google, search for blog entries, search facebook, twitter, pinterest or youtube. If you see a post get in touch asap and thank them for having published and shared your brand info with their followers. Also, try to find a new topic for a second or third post.

Use the press links to inform your clients by mail or on your website, facebook, twitter etc. This will create even more buzz in the social media channels.

Print media also known as long-lead media need a minimum of 8-12 weeks to be able to publish any information so make sure they remember you and your story/brand/product in the coming weeks.

They receive a daily flow of new information and pitches. Write an email to the editor to tell him/her how important and valuable your time together was and how grateful you are to have made the personal experience. Ask if she/he needs more information or provide additional information pertaining to the individual media affiliation eg. has a VIP used your product – then let the gossip magazines know.

Note: Don’t bore editors with the same story, be creative and surprise them, relate it to current issues, interesting facts about the ingredients and so on. 4-6 weeks after the event offer interviews or statements with one of your experts or founder or provide insights into how to use the product.

To find the clippings you can screen the issues yourselves – which needs time and perseverance – or you ask a clippings service to do so for you for a limited time of 4-6 months. They document all clippings and also give you the numbers of readership to evaluate the ROI. This analysis is perfect to add to your website and social media activities and helps impress existing or potential customers.

Remember, PR is a task that needs responsibility and on-going attention over a longer period and not a short term solution. Brand value and recognition are built over months and years to create a consistent image. Public relations is still one of the most cost effective ways in getting brand exposure but is a matter of time. So try to be patient and seek for the in depth PR advice if needed.
